Acts 1 gives the qualifications used when replacing Judas: a witness of the Lord’s ministry and resurrection. Paul’s apostleship involved Christ’s appearance to him and was not merely a self-selected title.
Acts 2 describes hearers recognizing their own languages in the apostles’ speech. First Corinthians 14 requires intelligibility and edification in the assembly, with interpretation for a tongue the hearers do not understand.
Deuteronomy 13 warns Israel not to follow a sign-worker who calls people away from God. Matthew 24 warns about deceptive signs, and First John 4 commands testing the spirits. A claim of power is not permission to disregard revealed teaching.
