May angels or human servants receive religious worship?
Subject: Church organization and worship
Claim examined: An angel, apostle or other created servant may receive the religious worship that belongs to God.
Scriptural Answer
When Cornelius fell at Peter’s feet, Peter told him to stand because he also was a man. In Revelation the angel refuses John’s worship and directs him to worship God. Faithful servants do not accept divine worship.
Colossians 2 warns against worship of angels, and Jesus directs worship and service to God. Respecting a messenger does not authorize worshiping him. Measure religious honor by these distinctions rather than by the messenger’s importance.
