Does Scripture describe God as a mortal man who became God?
Subject: Mormon claims
Claim examined: God was once a mortal man and became divine through progression, and people may become gods in the same sense.
Scriptural Answer
Psalm 90 describes God as God from everlasting to everlasting. Isaiah 43 denies that a god was formed before Him or will be formed after Him. Scripture presents eternal deity, not an origin through human advancement.
Christians receive life and likeness to Christ by God’s grace. Those promises do not make them additional creators or authorize rewriting God’s eternal nature. Distinguish sharing His blessings from becoming another deity.
