Claim examined: Baptism and conversion
Scriptural Answer
Quote: Hey [name omitted], My name is [name omitted], not [name omitted]... :\ Quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John's baptism was FOR the remission of sins... The same thing holds true for the ONE baptism today it is FOR the remission of sins... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote: Um...not true. The baptism of the remission of sins was...because their sins were only remitted...remember, God winked at their sins? Um yes, it is true... It is written in Mark 1:4, "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins." John's baptism was FOR the remission of sins... Quote: The Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven...which we find John's baptism in, was to be preached to the Nation of Israel only: I am not disputing that John's baptism was only for the Jews... Quote: And this gospel was for a witness and not for salvation: Obviously you have a problem reading what is written for it plainly states that the baptism of John was FOR the remission of sins... The baptism of John was FOR the remission of sins and the ONE baptism that we have now is also FOR the remission of sins... The gospel was taught as a witness so that people could be saved... Not just so that people could hear about Jesus... The apostles were baptized with the baptism of John and were saved... Are you going to affirm they were not saved??? Quote: We see that Paul is talking to these disciples and he asked them if they were baptized...they said yes, "John's baptism" That was water baptism. Paul said that John did baptized with water, but John also stated...that they should believe on Him which should come after...which is Jesus...and Jesus baptizes with what? Not water! Jesus never baptized with water, but with the Holy Ghost and with fire. When they heard...they were baptized...not in water again, but in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ...which is with the Holy Spirit. A dry baptism...in which Paul only preaches about the baptism of the Spirit. Why were these disciples re-baptized Deborah??? Hint, they were NOT re-baptized in order to be saved... (See verse 2)... The reception of the Holy Spirit had nothing to do with their salvation... Quote: There are seven baptisms spoken of in the Scriptures: What does Ephesians 4:5 state??? Quote: As The bible says...to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. No water! That is not all that one is required to do in order to be saved... What about repentance, confession and baptism... Does faith only salvation mean salvation by faith and everything else the bible says except baptism??? Quote: How about this: Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Again...No water! Faith alone salvation never saved anyone... Please see James 2:20,26... Go back and re-read Romans 10:10... It is obedience to the gospel of Christ that saves... Please see Romans 1:16... Quote: And Paul states: 1 Ti 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Paul is that pattern...He called Him Lord! That was it! He knew that on the road to Damascus that Jesus Christ was Lord and addressed Jesus as Lord! No water! Paul believed on the Lord Jesus Christ to life everlasting. Again, NO Water! Paul was NOT saved on the road to Damascus and I challenge you to prove that he was saved... Just because Paul called him Lord does not mean a thing... What did Ananias tell Paul to do??? "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." (Acts 22:16). Paul was saved (yes in water for that is what washed away his sins) when he was baptized FOR the remission of his sins and not before... Quote: Water baptism does not save you! We must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. The argument that one is saved before baptism is a lie! It originates from the father of lies who was a murderer from the beginning and in whom is no truth. You who teach that one is saved before and without baptism wrest the Scriptures to your own destruction. You ADD the word [NOT] to 1 Peter 3:21, Mark 16:16, Acts 22:16. For example, some falsely teach that: Those who believe and are [NOT] baptized shall be saved; Baptism is [NOT] for the remission of sins; Baptism does [NOT] wash away sin; Baptism does [NOT] save us. By adding the word [NOT] you who do so, follow the footsteps of the Devil. God said if Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden tree, they would surely die (Gen 2:17). The Devil added one word, the word [NOT]. He said they would [NOT] surely die (Gen 3:4). Adam and Eve sinned and were separated from God because of the addition of this one word. If today you listen to and accept this one word [NOT] as a part of these passages, you too will sin and be separated from God!!! Anyone who accepts this false teaching directly contradicts the words of our Lord, the very words by which you will one day be judged. (John 12:48) . I have answered both of your posts, now instead of cutting and pasting, how about answering my last post and this one... [name omitted]
